AidezCI’ve been kicking around ideas for starting up a fall knitalong in the next couple weeks and I think this would be a really great one!

5 years ago this month, Cirilia Rose’s Aidez (pronoucned “ae-day”) cardigan hit the Berroco website and it has been a very popular project ever since.  Its cozy, cabled style appeals to a wide range of people and looks fabulous on all kinds of bodies, while the pattern instructions are an easy entry into cabled sweaters.  To top it all off, it’s made with a bulky yarn, so it works up rather quickly.

If you’ve been following our blog for a while you might remember that I knit an Aidez a few years back.  Celeste knit one too!  Although mine was a gauge disaster and hers came out absolutely perfect.

I ripped my Aidez back in February of this year, and I really want to give it another try.  Would you like to join me?

Pattern: Aidez, by Cirilia Rose, available free via Ravelry and Berroco.com
Yarn Options:

  1. The yarn called for by the pattern is WONDERFUL.  Peruvia Quick is available from Berroco in 24 gorgeous colorways.  I used Peruvia Quick to knit mine and even though I ripped it out, it held up to knitting and ripping and I’ll reknit it for this project. (that’s the sign of a GOOD wool!)  In Peruvia Quick Aidez is a cozy bulky sweater for lounging around in that can double as a jacket on crisp fall mornings.
  2. My choice for a machine washable version of this cardigan would be Berroco Vintage Chunky.  There are currently 51 colors to choose from in Vintage Chunky!  This yarn would work up to the same gauge as Peruvia Quick, but it would be less “woolly” feeling, a little less bulky over all and, thus, a little less “jackety”.

Yarn quantities:
Size: Bust (closed) – 32(36-40-44-48-52)”

Length – 26½(27-27-27½-27½- 28)”
Peruvia Quick: 8, (9, 10, 11, 12, 13)
Vintage Chunky: 7, (8, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11)

We DO have some of each of these yarnsCelestesAidez in stock but haven’t stocked up for fall yet.  I’ll order the colors you request for these projects and then throw in a few extra bags to round out the selection for everyone else.  So – check out the color cards online or in person here at the shop, and let me know what you’d like!

When: Let me know your yarn choices by October 13th and we’ll have yarn in hand by the end of that week.  Let’s meet every other Saturday am – Oct 24, Nov 7, Nov 21 & Dec 5 – 10am – 12:00pm.  Feel free to bring your coffee, breakfast, and/or lunch!  And you can always join us for one of our knitting circles – Tuesday or Thursday evenings, 5:00-7:00pm
