Tin Can Knits has a collection of beginner knitting patterns that are just FABulous!  If you’re afraid of trying your first hat/sweater/sock/blanket/cowl, click through The Simple Collection and jump in.  There are eight patterns altogether, they’re all free, and they have sizing from baby through adult.

Each pattern is written just as an ordinary knitting pattern would be, but at each point in the pattern there is a clickable ? question mark.

Pattern: Barley (hat) & Flax (sweater), by tincanknits, available on Ravelry
Size: 0-6 months (18″ chest)
Yarn: Plymouth Encore Dynamo, 1 ball for the sweater, 1/2 ball for the hat
Notes: I LOVE that I was able to make the sweater in just one ball.  Think about the time it takes you to knit through 200 yards of worsted weight – that’s how fast this sweater was!  I finished them a few weeks ago and gave them to a friend as a baby shower gift.
