In my last newsletter I reminded you that if you’re feeling the cabin fever grumps, we’re here for you! You can come in and be surrounded by color or you can sit and work on a project for a bit, just to get out of the house and be around people. Well, the forecast is threatening a few more snow days in the near future and even I might need a pick-me-up!
The past week or so we’ve had a lot of you stop in looking for something to work on, but not sure what to take home. In anticipation of the snow day, I’ve collected a few pattern suggestions for quickie projects that have been greatest hits at Sage over the past few years. I’ve personally made multiple versions of several of these patterns, so you know they’re good! Stop in ahead of the storms to pick up a few skeins, or order online and I’ll get it shipped to you in a jiffy!
Yarn + pom pom + instructions on the label = instant HAT! I’ve also been tempted to get two of these kits to make a scarf with a pom pom at either end. Check out the Inspire Hat kits and Pom Rox hat kits, on sale!
Artfully Simple Infinity Scarf – So simple, you won’t believe it! Grab 200 yards of worsted weight in a pretty color and a crochet hook and you’ll have a cowl by the end of your first viewing of Frozen. Try Gina for some striping fun, Encore Colorspun or Dynamo for washable options, and Modern Cotton or Ultra Pima for year-round wear.
Super Fast Ultra Cozy – it’s all you need! Once upon a time, I knit up a half dozen of these for Christmas gifts. Depending on the thickness of your yarn this can be a 2 hour project. Check out Galway Roving & Encore Mega for super chunky and Vintage Chunky & Peruvia Quick for Bulky. This is a free pattern that I posted to our old blog.
There are just a few skeins left of our Super Bowl Sale yarns, Baby Alpaca Ultimo and Sophia Tweed! There are two super fast cowl patterns for these yarns and there’s a free, one-skein hat pattern for Sophia Tweed, also. I had a few of you in yesterday and today, scooping up a skein or two for this weekend – hope you love it!
If you’re up for some cables, one of my most favorite mitten patterns is Bella’s Mittens. You knit a chunky weight yarn a little bit tighter than usual and get the most cozy cabled mittens you can imagine! This version was made with Peruvia Quick, but any of your favorite bulky or aran weight yarns will do. Vintage Chunky, Homestead and Lamb’s Pride Bulky all look great!
Start now for future holidays and birthdays. You know you’ll be feeling the time crunch again next November and December, why not make up a few of these things and stash them away? I hope one of these patterns keeps you busy and happy during our upcoming snow day!
