Last year on July 31st, I decided to declare August a month for finishing. If I’m thinking ahead and being honest with myself, I’m going to want to start some new things in September when wool season picks back up, and I’m going to feel bogged down by all of these unfinished projects. Wrapping them up in the next few weeks would mean guilt-free start-itis! So, I ask you to join me in Finish-Along 2014!
Let’s start tomorrow, August 1st, by pulling out all of our projects and taking stock of what needs to be done. Be honest about what you want to rip, what you want to put on hold for later, and what you want to finish right away. Post a comment here on the blog or on our Facebook page and let us know what you found!
Each week, on Friday, one lucky commenter will
win a $10 gift certificate to Sage!!
I’ll go gather my projects and meet you back here tomorrow!
Hmmmm….. I have one scarf to finish …. two shawls to finish … an i-cord to make for a vest….. and the hitofude sweater to – start! I suspect there are also a few socks that are all done but the dratted Kitchener stitching too! That should keep me busy until September when I’ll be back up that way for more yarn!
Went though my projects, I have 2 Adult sweaters to finish, 1 child’s sweater, one shawl to rip out, and another adult sweater to rip out and save the yarn for a Fall Sweater! If I work hard I can get them done! I’ll give it a try.
That’s not too bad! Totally doable 🙂
Yay! That’s not a bad pile of WIPs at all. You should have a kitchener party one night and sit with a good light and some dessert and get those socks done! Hitofude will fly off your needles – it’s a fun project.
Well – I guess as long as I only count the “started” items and not yarn purchased for specific projects (no matter how long ago!!), I have 1 pair socks, 2 sweaters, 1 scarf and 1 pair slippers. That way it doesn’t sound so bad ——
That is not bad, at all!! Yarn in the stash that hasn’t been cast on is still stash, as far as I’m concerned!
What an ace idea and just the incentive I need. On the needles right now I have one shawl, two pairs of socks, one waistcoat and one summerweight drapey top. For various reasons I am tired of them all! Worryingly if I really went digging I would probably find more, but I’ll leave it at that for now, lol. I know that come September I’ll be yeaening for new things. While I doubt ill finish everything, if I could see my way to finishing a couple of these things it would be fab.
These are started projects:
1 button-hat
1 scarf
1 and 1/2 mittens
1 bunny
I have other projects on my brain and yarn in the closet, waiting. And more ideas and yarn waiting for me at Sage!
That’s not a bad list, either! Want to come in and hang out during knitting circle and finish one of those up? Pull out whatever is closest to being done.
Not much in my basket to finish right now – just a Thorpe hat and the spring KAL… I’ll be there tonight working away!
HI… I have a stuffed piggy that needs a tail.
A stuffed rabbit that needs his tail.
A knitted basket ,
and these are the oldest things of my unfinished business.
I also have a scarf …
A small blanket…
I think the scarf & blackout may be a rip !!
Awww a piggy and rabbit that need tails. So cute! You could have those done in no time, and check them off your list! And if you’re not in love with that scarf and blanket – to the frog pond it goes!
I love the idea! When you talked about your unfinished stuff last week, I immediately got out the baby sweater I had finished except for the buttons, and sewed them on! Now, about the two sweaters that have been unfinished for more than a year (one just needs to be put together!), along with the shawl and Irish knit cardigan I’m making for a granddaughter…….I need some incentive! Perhaps I’ll try pulling out the one that needs the least amount of work!
I *always* pull out the thing that needs the least work. That way I get to feel like I finished a big project in very little time!

Ok, so we Are being honest right?
Well this should make Jen feel better, her pile is not so bad.
I have as follows:
1 a button cowl 95% done on scrap yarn.
1 child sweater with one sleeve to go
4 blankets in various stages of completion, one in crochet.
2 pairs of socks (1pr is 50% finished 1pr is 60% finished)
1 adult pullover to be ripped (it’s way to big)
2 adult cardigans (one is curant and progressing)
1 hat 50%done
Wee wildflower swatched and co but waiting for the curant cardi to be finished!
If you lost count that’s 14 UFOs!!!!
13 if you subtract the sweater to be frogged. Ive never counted UFOs or even thought about it much till now, iwas in ! I think I need knitters A.D.D. Meetings or something LOL!
And a praying mantis softie! I knew I was forgetting something!
Well, it’s a big pile, but manageable, right? I’d pick the closest to finished and finish it – cross something off the list! Bring the sweater to knit night and have someone else rip it for you. Let me know when you bring it and I’ll bring the stuff I have to rip and we’ll make a mess of it. (I won’t be there tonight)
Ok, so I just found 2 more crochet blankets half done hiding in my closet so those + the praying mantis I counted but forgot to mention brings me up to 15 UFOs!
Holly crap!!!
