My small accessory obsession has drifted from cowls over to fingerless gloves lately. Cowls are still high on my list, but wow! – my fingerless gloves really saved me last winter! Even when the rest of me is nice and cozy my hands are the last to warm up. This weeks’ deals are inspired by two simple but fun Fingerless Mitt patterns, one with bonus Hat and Scarf! Fallberry Mitts by Anne Hanson (KNIT), and Crochet Fingerless Mitts by Erika Knight (CROCHET).
Fallberry Mitts was first published for free on knitty.com and featured two sizes of mitts knit using sportweight yarn. It can now be purchased as a set – Fingerless Mitts, Hat, and Scarf – either in hard copy here at the shop or as a Ravelry Download. Anne’s patterns always feature lovely textures and this leaf-print type openwork does not disappoint!
Erika Knight’s Simple Crocheting has become a how-to staple for our crochet book selection. Within its pages you find wonderful instruction, clear diagrams and a handful of stylish beginning projects. This pair of Fingerless Mitts is a “free sample” of sorts from her book. If you like what you see, check out the other projects! We currently have a few copies of this book in stock if you want to flip through next time you’re in.
Featured yarns this week include: Frog Tree Alpaca Sport, Frog Tree Pediboo Tonal, Grignasco Revel, Autumn Wind & Autumn Wind Print. The Alpaca Sport and Pediboo have both been very popular yarns from Frog Tree, a non-profit yarn company located here on Cape Cod. Revel is our first self-striping yarn selection for Christmas in July, and it’s a super soft alpaca/merino blend. Autumn Wind and Autumn Wind Print are the unsung heroes of our summer yarn lineup – Cotton/Cashmere! Click through and find your favorite!
