If you haven’t been in to the new store recently, you may have missed one of our most exciting additions — gorgeous hand dyed yarns from Weston Hill Farm of Westerlo, NY! This picturesque farm is located in the Helderberg Mountains. Owned and operated by the Testo family, Weston Hill Farm is a rare combination of practical farming and incredible artistry. Eileen and Chris are both award-winning artists, she for her beautiful fiber designs and he for his stunning photography. They raise purebred Romney, Border Leicester and Long Wool Sheep that provide gorgeous fleeces that are a joy to spin. The Testos offer their washed fleeces, rovings, and yarns, both hand dyed and natural, at fiber festivals around the country — and we at Sage are so excited to feature their products in the shop!
We currently offer an array of natural and hand dyed colorways in sport and worsted weights, and in the coming days we’ll be adding natural and dyed rovings. The yarns knit beautifully — we have an Orchid Thief shawl on the needles, and Celeste has designed several patterns for them, too. For all you spinners out there — fair warning, this roving is amazing! Come on in on Tuesday, May 20 from 4-6pm to meet the Testos in person, and see their newest offerings! Their products are some of the most beautiful we’ve worked with — and just knowing that Eileen and Chris begin with the sheep themselves is so incredible! With their permission, we’re pleased to share a glimpse into their life and art below:
